Adventures on YouTube

So I've been doing my internship for a whole month now and you don't always have things to do. And spending a day 8 to 5 in an office with nothing to do could be some kind of torture.

With an interesting blocked websites list, I don't have access to IMDb (which is my number one favorite website to waste time) but fortunately I have access to YouTube.

So I decided to make some video/channel recommendations on YouTube for those of you in need of mindless distraction.

YouTube is of course known to satisfy every kind of taste and not everyone necessarily supposed to like the same content. However, if you are reading this I'm assuming we have similar tastes. I'm also putting an example for my favorite videos on each channel so that you can have a little taste.

I begin my daily routine with jacksfilms usually. If you are not familiar with the channel, Jack Douglas is this guy who usually makes videos using the comments under his videos as concept. We may call it  the inception of videos.

My favorite thing about jacksfilms is (was) YGS (Your Grammer Sucks) where Jack takes poorly spelled or comments on YouTube and reads them out loud. I know it sound ridiculous when I say it like this but it actually is very funny. Unfortunately for some reason Jack decided to make the 100th episode of YGS the last one but promised to make it epic. How was that episode? I'll tell you if he ever makes it.

Since there hasn't been any YGS videos coming our way for a while, I try to take simple satisfaction from the daily series YIAY (Yesterday I Asked You) which is again a comment based show where Jack asks something everyday and reads his favorite answers the next day. It passes the time so...

If you're a movies fan like me, I have the perfect channel for you. Two channels actually. Screen Junkies and CinemaSins...

My favorite Screen Junkies show is of course the "Honest Trailer". They basically take your favorite movies and edit them into trailers that reviews them in a very funny way. And CinemaSins take those movies and point out every cliche, mistake or anything that bothers them basically in their "Everything Wrong With" series. Both channels also occasionally offers the same format with video games, TV shows or with famous brands.

For those of you have that random sense of humor, you have ExplosmEntertainment that make one of the most random animations you may find on the internet with their epic "Cyanide & Happiness" shorts.

For those list lovers I'm positive that you are already stalking the YouTube channel of BuzzFeed which has many different channels like BuzzFeedVideo, BuzzFeed Yellow, BuzzFeedViolet and so on and so  on.... It's just one of those channels you follow when you don't want to waste too much energy on brain  work.

A channel I like with a similar content is WatchMojo.com, which makes the top 10 lest about... well about everything actually. To be honest I find the content of WatchMojo a bit more satisfying then BuzzFeed list videos. If you compare them yourself, I'm sure that you're going to realize there is much more thought and research goes to the WatchMojo videos.

If you're looking for a channel that is going to make you laugh your ass off, we have Bad Lip Reading. They take movies, music videos, press conferences, everything and dub them with ridiculous stuff and they are very successful with the lip syncing too. Unfortunately new videos come very rarely to the channel.

A YouTube phenomenon I'm sure most of the people who have access to the internet ran into at least once is PewDiePie.

PewDiePie was (yes was) my favorite channel on YouTube for a very long time. I don't remember laughing that hard on anything. Unfortunately what concerns me is that I can't find the same quality and definitely not the same laughs from it anymore. However, the videos he made playing Scribblenauts will remain some of my favorites forever.

A different kind of entertainment is provided from Fine Brothers Entertainment who are famous with their "React" episodes. They also have these sitcom series but they don't peak my interest that much to be honest. But whenever you want to feel like you are 100 years old, you may watch Kids React to Technology.

Yes, this is how I spend roughly about 9 hours a day everyday. So if you have any suggestions for me, I would love to take a look at them.

As usual, thank you for reading my humble opinion.

Jurassic World

May I begin with just saying "Wow!" Jurassic Park finally got a sequel that it deserves.

From our history of Jurassic Park sequels I had very very low expectations going to the movie last night. Thank you Colin Trevorrow for proving me wrong.

As usual I'm going to make my fair warnings from the beginning. I have always been and always be a huge fan of Chris Pratt. This situation may have affected my judgment of the movie tiny bit. But it didn't affect that much on Guardians of the Galaxy so I'm certain that Jurassic World was good. Really good!

Last night when we left the theater I was fairly disappointed that my dad was not impressed. I have no idea what people have against CGI. I know it's not as much work as it used to be with the handmade sets and robotics and stuff but if it looks realistic I am all for the green screen technology. It's not about how they make it, it's about what comes out of it.

A revelation about me: I don't like 3D. I just don't. The general viewpoint on 3D that it improves the experience but I think the other way around. I find it tiring. The first few times you see a movie in 3D it may  be interesting but it surely gets old. So I wouldn't hate to have Jurassic World in the good old 2 dimension without the color distortion of the 3D glasses.

We can't only talk good about a movie so let's begin with my "oh no" moments. First of all, I would definitely kill of that Henry guy is a huge ass. I've always wanted to punch every character that is written with a God syndrome so I know it was necessary for the story line but I still hate it.

Someone explain me this: 3 velociraptors is useless against an Indominus Rex but one raptor alone can take it down? I know there was a T-Rex involved but she didn't really do much did she?

Is the message of the movie "dinosaurs have feelings too"? And even if it is, why raptors dude? You learn nothing from your mistakes?

At the end of the movie the Indominus Rex is defeated and it's all good. But it shouldn't! There are still very dangerous dinosaurs out there that can make you an appetizer or dessert. In the first movie people were running from the fucking T-Rex; not that there is a more dangerous kind is the T-Rex okay to hang around with?

They do leave the island be and dinosaurs live there on their own happily ever after and it's an island so they can't get to the humans bla bla bla... Let's ignore the fact that there are kinds that can fly and actually have eaten and/or impaled people but whatever. If they will decide to cross the island they'll just make another sequel to take care of it.

But then there are the teary-eye moments, which are mainly the references made to the original Jurassic Park movie. The door, the hall, the logo... I was all "aawww" half of the movie.

I know I spotted out more negatives that I can point out positives but the things I got hung up on are trivial stuff and what has impressed me was the originality of the story. Indominus Rex is basically not a dinosaur but it is a clever creation. Even though it's CGI it succeeds in giving you goosebumps.

I say that you should definitely see Jurassic World. Don't make the mistake of comparing it to Jurassic Park. Just sit back and enjoy the show. You won't regret it.

Thank you for reading my humble opinion.

In Case of a Jane Austen Craving...

Every now and then, I get a craving for an Austen kind of romance and if you're craving Austen you gotta have Austen.

If you ever have such cravings on a rainy day or when it's too cold outside, I have the perfect list for you.

Every craving is different from the other. Sometimes you need a hard core Janey Austeny stuff like the direct adaptation of Pride and Prejudice or a modern day adaptation, or even some work that Jane Austen is acknowledged as the great writer she is within the movie/series.

Starting with the direct book adaptations... A Jane Austen list that doesn't begin with Pride and Prejudice is not a Jane Austen list. I am equally a fan of the 2005 version of P&P with Keira Knightley and the 1995 mini series version of P&P in 1995 with Colin Firth.

But if you are at the very beginning of the Austen road, I recommend you start with the movie before dedicating yourself to a more intense journey with the mini series.

Speaking of mini series, Emma is the second best I have seen ever. The best comes later...

So far all of the Jane Austen book adapted projects, I have seen without having any prior information. (Except Pride and Prejudice. If you haven't read that shame on you dude!) That's why I've made the decision to give you the same chance and give no hint on the plot.

The other two books adapted to mini series are Mansfield Park and Northanger Abbey. I am not that big of a fan of either of them (I know that no one really is a fan of Northanger Abbey) but if you've got nothing then, oh well...

And there is Sense and Sensibility. This one also comes to our way with two choices: mini series and a movie. To be honest I haven't seen the 1981 mini series of Sense and Sensibility because I saw the 1995 movie first and the general plot wasn't so much for my taste. However I would still recommend you to see the movie if not for the story, for the performances of Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet. Also there is Alan Rickman, which is always a plus.

As a representative of this category I will forever and always say Pride and Prejudice. Even though many people prefer Colin Firth to Matthew Macfadyen, I still prefer the 2005 movie to the 1995 mini series.

The second category is the modern adaptations of the Jane Austen books. This category is literally over flowing. I am not going to mention every single one of them of course. Just the ones that stand out to me.

If we begin with the "adequate one" on my list, I would start with From Prada to Nada which is apparently adapted from Sense and Sensibility. In my view this movie is nothing more than a light chick flick that is only good when you're extremely bored, but it helps passing time. So whatever...

Then there is the famous Bridget Jones's Diary... Confession Time: I'm a fan. So what? Allegedly Bridget Jones was adapted from Pride and Prejudice but if you can find one -and only one- similarity between Bridget and Elizabeth I will give you everything I own. Still, I believe that it's a good movie.

Finally a 1995 classic, Clueless. The day I watched Clueless, which is based on Emma, I fell in love with both Alicia Silverstone and Paul Rudd. It is a teen aiming romantic comedy but it seriously, honestly entertains. I applaud you Amy Heckerling!

To respresent this category I will not be able to choose between Clueless and Bridget Jones (the first movie, not the sequel), but since Clueless is more relatable to its base story and this is a Jane Austen list, I have to go with Clueless.

And a final category for the Austen fans is the movies I put in the category of "Others" because they are not exactly book adaptations.

For example the movie The Jane Austen Book Club is obviously about a book club that reads Jane Austen. duhh... It is a soft time passer that I enjoyed but I still would say.. meeehh. You may leave that to the end of your list if you're planning on binge-watching Jane Austen.

One of my favorites in this list and this whole article is Becoming Jane. It is not about a book that Jane Austen has written but it is about Jane Austen herself. The events on the movie are not exactly verified but there are letters and stuff supporting some details that are imagined in her story. Plus I like Anne Hathaway whatever you say.

The last but not least that one favorite of mine... Lost in Austen.

This is 4 episode mini series with Jemima Rooper starring as Amanda Price who finds herself inside of her favorite book Pride and Prejudice. It's fun, it's funny, it's everything you want it to be. That's why, to anyone with a craving of a Jane Austen kind of romance I would strongly recommend Lost in Austen.

Thank you for reading my humble opinion.
